Ensuring your blinds fit perfectly!
Measuring your windows for your blinds is simple, just follow our clear instructions below.
Exact or recess?
You can choose to have your blind made to fit the inside of the recess of your window or it can hang on the outside of your window. Both will look great, so it’s up to you!Exact - This is the measurement you need to take if you want your blind to hang outside the window recess. We will make your blind exactly to these measurements.Recess - This is the measurement you need to take if you want your blind to fit inside the window recess. We will make your blind to fit into the recess perfectly, we reduce all the blinds (except Roller blinds – see note below) by 1cm except for Woodweave blinds which we reduce by 2cms.Important note for measuring Roller blinds
For Roller blinds, we have to allow for fittings at either end of the blind, as there is no head rail. This means the actual fabric is approximately 2.8cm less for an exact measurement and 3.3cm less for a recess measurement. Remember you don’t need to make this adjustments, we do it all for you!Three simple steps to an exact measurement
Follow these instructions if you want your blind to hang outside the window recess:
1. Measure the exact width of where you'd like your blind to be. Note down the measurement.2. Measure the exact drop from the top of where you want your blind to be to the bottom. Follow these instructions if you want your blind to hang inside the window recess:
1. Measure the width of the recess from wall to wall in three places as shown. Write down the shortest measurement - this is the one we'll use.2. Measure the drop by taking the measurement from the top of the recess to the window sill in three places as shown. Write down the shortest measurement.3. Are your measurements in inches? Don't worry! Our handy converter will give you your dimensions in centimetres.Top tips for perfect measuring
» Use a metal tape measurement and make sure you have a pen and paper with you. Don’t try and remember your measurements – write them straight down!» Take all of your measurements in centimetres (cm) to the nearest 0.1cm. If you have measured in inches, you can easily convert them with our conversion calculator.» Make sure you think about the positioning of tiles; don't measure at the top of your window recess if you have tiles at the bottom or your blind might not fit!» Look out for your window handles and think about how your window opens.
